Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): U.S. MILITARY ALL-STARS "RED, WHITE & BLUE TOUR
PLAYER RESUME: We no longer conduct OPEN TRYOUTS since it would just add to your travel expenses. Not to mention, many of you are deployed.
HOW IT BEGAN: During a visit to the Naval Aviation Museum, President H.W. Bush discussed the positive impact baseball had on morale during WWII. His comments initiated the development of military baseball in the modern era. Over two decades later, we are the only program in history to wear camouflage uniforms with historical references to represent all branches of the military and first responders on one team.
WHO WE ARE: Since 1990, more than 25,000 armed forces personnel have represented their service while paying our own expenses with a philosophy of HUSTLE, THINK, WIN! We are the "Globetrotters" of baseball. As the largest, fastest growing and most successful barnstorming team ever created, delivering competitive, exciting "must see" patriotic entertainment enjoyed by millions. We have visited 45 states and 12 countries while providing entertainment for some of the finest organizations in the world.
WHAT WE DO: The historic "Red, White and Blue Tour" delivers unique patriotic events designed to entertain your fans and honor America. We conduct a choreographed pre-game that includes "Passing the Flag" - "Walk of Honor" - and other ceremonies. Our UNIQUE events deliver positive media and community goodwill. Dates are Limited!
WHY WE DO IT: MISSION: "To Promote the Awareness of all Americans in Support of the Honorable Sacrifices our Armed Forces and First Responders make at the Tip of the Spear" Our philosophy is based on the prominent yellow ribbon in the shape of an "S" located "front and center" in our distinctive "USA" logo that symbolizes "Support" for our Troops, Veterans and First Responders.
WHO CAN PLAY: Each year is different. The goal has always been 100% Military or First Responders. In 2009, we added a summer collegiate and professional team to create a complete player development system. As a result, we had a solid crop of talent available and many former military players earned the opportunity to play professionally. Over 25 players were signed to professional contracts from the tour, both military and civilian. A perfect roster mix on tour would be 20 Active Duty, Reserve, U.S. Coast Guard, Intelligence Agencies, Veterans, First Responders (Fire / Police) or Former MLB Players and 5-8 collegiate prospects or professionals. This arrangement will ensure that we maintain a core of pitchers and players to compliment our military and first responders to compete against professional teams. In addition, we routinely allow local Celebrities, Wounded Warriors, VIP's and Reporters to participate so they are better equipped to convey their experience to the public.
WHO CAN COACH: We have continued to be a proving ground to help train former MLB players to be managers and coaches. This has been very successful and our organization has grown a great deal based on their contributions.
PLAYING TIME: Is earned and controlled by the coaching staff. We play to win!
WHEN CAN I JOIN THE TOUR: How, when and where you join the tour and how long you remain, is up to you and your personal commitments.
HOW DOES THE TOUR SCHEDULE WORK: Think of the Tour in Phases. The majority of our schedule will be firmed in March to allow as much planning as possible for our players. Events will continue to be added throughout the year.
PHASE 1: (FEB) Tryouts will be held worldwide by affiliated teams and in San Diego at Point Loma Nazarene University in Mid to Late February. Players will tryout and then return home. A local US Military All Stars team will begin playing in a local San Diego league on weekends to provide a place for local players to compete and promote recruiting talent for the tour.
PHASE 2: (MAR) Normally held the third week of March during MLB Spring Training in Florida. Only players with uniforms and membership in good standing are invited to these MLB Alumni events. Players will fly in for the events over 4-5 days and then return home. "Invitation Only" players will depart on Central America Diplomacy Tour on behalf of the Department of State from Miami, Florida following MLB Spring Training events.
PHASE 3: (APR-MAY) Spring Training games will be played against independent professional teams. Players will travel to compete in games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday and then return home. The schedule will continue to take shape throughout the year. There are portions in the spring where some players will go to Central America while others remain in the states.
PHASE 4: (JUN-JUL) Busiest portion of the tour. If your availability is limited, you should consider this timeframe to be on tour. We have events each and every day. Final roster selections are made as players prepare for two options: 1) Fly to Alaska or 2) Meet in San Diego for a week of Spring Training prior to flying to Alaska (11 June - 23 June) portion of the tour. Team will fly from Alaska to the Midwest (Kansas City Royals or College World Series in Omaha) to continue the tour.
PHASE 5: (AUG-SEP) We try to build in a one to two week break in August based on our schedule. Majority of summer tour team will depart and a new Fall team will be created for 9-11 Tribute events and potential overseas tour.
PHASE 6: (OCT-JAN) Off season preparations for MLB Winter Meetings

Military personnel only with valid passports will be selected for the Central America portion of the tour. All personnel will be on orders with no out of pocket expenses.
WHERE IS THE TEAM BASED: We are based in San Diego.
ROSTER TURNOVER: As you might expect with our nation at war and operational commitments on the rise we have an extremely high number of players every year. It's normally between 100-150 a year and it's normal for players to come and go each day.
